Here’s my third blog, this time in Hugo (third time’s the charm!). You can find my previous blog here.
My first blog – and my longest venture – was on Wordpress. Certainly easier to work with compared to fiddling with CSS code directly, but some news or another about the future of Wordpress’s ownership led to me insisting on using open source software for my blog: this way, I can have complete ownership over my own site. It’s also the reason I didn’t want to write on Substack, Medium or other similar platforms.
The other issue I had with it was that being locked into using themes that other people had made, caused my blog to feel a little less personal. Of course, in Wordpress you can make your own adjustments to the theme you choose, but at this point I was pretty much set on building a blog from the ground up.
On the other hand, I suck at website developing, so only time will tell whether I’ll bother to change the default theme or not.
